Lord Falmouth's race horses were sold on April 27th. Sir John Willoughby bought the 3-yearold Harvester for £8600. The 3-year-old filly Busybody was purchased by Lord Arlington for £8800. The total sum received by the sale was £38,288. Balmoral Castle, near Dundee, was burned on April 1 1st. Many valuable painting's were destroyed.' The Bell Tavern, near the Old Bailey, London, was burned on the 2 2nd. Two barmaids perished. The tunnel under the Mersey, to connect Birkenhead and Liverpool, will be formally opened on June 14th. The cavalary barracks m course of erection at Portsmouth suddenly tell on April 261h, and injured 30 convicts engaged m the building.
