Afc Cambridge yesterday several natives forcibly rescued a horse from Major Green. It is stated that Major Green intends to prosecute one native woman for biting and indecently assaulting him, and also to lay an information against Flarry i Sola for inciting the natives. Dunedin, May 30. Messrs Dalgety and Co., to-day re- ! oeived a cablegram from London ad- ! vising them that the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's chartered steamship Coptic, and sister ship to the lonic aud Doric, sailed from Plymouth on the 28th instant for Port Chalmers direct. She is a full cargo ship, and has 185 passengers. Some of the chrysanthemums which took first prizes at yesterday's show, aud which were grown at Oamarn, were sent to Melbourne by the Rotomahana to-day m order to show the perfection to which the ftower w grown here. The result of the intercolonial arcberr match between Adelaide and Canterbury is an easy victory for t.he former, namely, Adelaide, 1677 points Canterbury, 880. Tie umpires were Sir John Morpett and Canon Stanford. Adelaide had a selection of scorers from 125 members ; Canterbury from 24. Gisborne, May 30. Sir George Whitmore and Mr Sheehan leave by the Te Anau for Napier to-morrow. A lar?e native meeting was held at Akutaku, north of Tologa Bay, at which 1200 wore present. .Messrs Sheehan aud liees, Captain Porter, and Major Ropata were present The meeting had reference to land titles. Some natives are anxious for Mr Sheehan to come to settle, titles; others are dead against the idea. Mr Looke, who received a unanimous vote of confidence at Ormoud on Wednesday night, left this afternoon for Waihoia, where he speaks on Mou day nigh..
