(by electric telegraph- copyright) (REUTER's TELEGRAMS.) Melbourne, May 31, The Trial m Kquity at the suit of George Meredith Pell, farmer of Southland, versus Joseph Clarke has commenced here. The land of these and other parties was sold to Sir Julius VogeFs New Zealand Agricultural Company for i?l,080,---000. Pell now claims that the sum of £878,000 is still due to him. Brisbane, May 31. The Queensland Parliament will meet for the despatch of business on Bth July. Mr Griffiths, Premier, m reply to a deputation which waited on him yesterday, stated that during the next session of Parliament the Government would endeavour to pass a law sufficiently stringent to put a stop to the influx of French criminals to Queensland.
