AUSTRALIANS V. GENTLEMEN. THE COLONIALS DEFEATED. (by electric telegraph. — copyright.) (reuter's telegrams.) London*, May 30. The cricket mateh — Australians v . Gentlemen of England— was resumed to-day at Lords, The Australians, ■with 83 ruus to theircrcdit and five wickets down, continued their first innings, which closed for 135. Spofforth, was unable to bat, his right hand beitg completely disabled. The visitor's being 134 behind their opponents, had to follow on their second innings, and succeeded m putting together 269 runs. .Requiring 128 runs to win the Gentlemen went m for their second innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day their score stood at 17 for one wicket down, Studd being c and b for one run. (Received June 2, 0.50 a.m.) May 31. The cricket match Australians versus Gentlemen of England was " resumed and concluded at Lords' today. The home team having one wicket down for 17 and requiring 1 to make 128 to win the match, put together that number with the loss of only six wickets thus winning by 4 wickets. The attendance of spectators was again very largp,the greatest , interest being taken iv the match, the weather during the day being fine.
