Judging from the masterly manner m which Mr Walton grasped the subject of his first lecture, we anticipate and interesting and instructive address. Due notice of the precise date will appear m the Standard. In this issue we publish a notice of dissolution of partnership between Messrs Hankins & Baker, solicitors. Mr Baker takes over the professional business of Mr Perkins, the latter gentleman we believe intends shortly leaving Palmerston for Tasmania. Messrs Simmonds and Pegden have taken the premises formerly occupied by Hounslow and Voigt, and are making extensive alterations both inside and out. The ground story is thrown into one large room and when finished off will be One of the largest show rooms m the town. Plans for alterations to the outside of the building are m preparation and we believe when the proposed changes have been completed the exterior of the store will have a very imposing appearance. The new firm informs us they have already a number of orders on hand and will be glad when the work of alteration is finished so as to be able to make a start. We noticed a very good stock of timber stacked, a quantity of which is well seasoned. The new firm have our best wishes for their future success. An altered time-table for the Foxton Races appears elsewhere. Mr Snelson held his first fruit tree sale of the season to-day. There was a capital attendance notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather and bidding was fairly brisk. Mr Svendson lately doing business m Pahnerston is at present m Sydney.

Wo understand Mr Falloon lias bought out Messrs C ran well and Gibson's interest m the Commercial Hotel stables. A lost broch is advertised for. The Wesleyan concert takes place at tho Foresters Hall this evening commencing at 7.30 p.m. The full programme of tho entertainment appears m our issue containing a selection of choice numbers from well-known or.itoriors also a sacred cantata entitled "Nativity." This latter work has never before been produced m this district and from the careful and constant training undergone by the singers for some considerable time past we anticipated a genuine musical treat.
