London, May 23. The London Gazette to-day announces sundry promotions in and appointments to the Order of St. Michael and St. George, including the following : — The Hon. Sir Alfred Stephen, K.C.M.G.. Lieut.-Gover-nor of New South Wales, to be a Knight Grand Cross, and Mr Frederick Napier Broome, C.M.G., Governor of Western Australia, to be a Knight Commander of the said Order. The Gazette also announces that the honor of knighthood has been conferred on Mr Samuel Davenport, of South Australia.
