King PROGRAMME FOR THE DAY. 1. Handicap Hurdle Race of 25 soys. Nomination 1 soy, acceptance 1 soy, 2 miles, over 8 flights of hurdles 3ft 9in. To start at 11 a.m. sharp. 2. Hack Hurdle Race of 10 soys — Once round the course, post entries of 1 soy, weight not to be under 9 stone, open to all horses thau have never been enteied for any advertised vace. Hack Races cxcepted. Jockeys to ride m colours. To start at 11.45 a.m. 3. Maiden Plate of 15 soys. — Entrance 30 shillings, weight for age, distance l-£ miles, open to all horses that have never won public money 3 prior to date of entry, hack laces excepted. Any horse entered for the above, winning- a race between date of entry and race, to Garry a penalty oi 51b. To start at 12.30 p.m. 4. Novel Race of 20 soys, once round the course, post entries of 1 soy, weight not to be less than 8 stone. For all horses which have been the boua fide property of residents wil.hin the Borough boundary, since first day of January, 1884, and that have never been entered; for an advertised race, hack races exccpted. The winner of this race to become the property of the Stewards, and to be sold immediately after the race. Any other horse m the race may be claimed foi the sum of £20, the said sum to be paid to the owner, and any further sum realised, to go to the funds of the meeting. To start sit 1.15 p.m. 5. Palmerston Guineas. A Handicap of 50 Guineas. Nomination 1 guinea, acceptance 2 guineas, distance. If miles. To start at 2.30 p.m. 6. Trademeris Purse of 5 soys. Entrance 10s. Once round the course. Catch weights. For bona ■fide business hacks, that have been used m connection with the working of any business, within the Borough for 3 months prior to date of race. 7. Flying Handicap of 25 soys. — Nomination 1 soy, acceptance 1 soy, distance £ of a- mile. To start at 3.45 p.m. 8. The Officials' Hack Race.— A Sweepstake of 1 soy, with 5 soys added. Once round the course. Weight not to be Jess than 12 stone. Open to hacks that have never won public money, the bona fide property of those who hold otfcce m connection with this meeting, either as Stewards, Office Bearers, or Committee- Competitors must ride their own horses, and appear m proper racing costume. To start at 4.30 p.m. f 1 ominations will be received, addressed to the Secretary, at the Commercial Hotel, Palmerston . orth, up to Monday, April 21, at 8 p.m. Weights will be declared on Monday, sth May. Entries and acceptances close on Thursday, 15th May, at 8 pau. RULES AND REGULATIONS. No Entry will be rceived for any Races except upon this condition, — That air Disputes Claims »nd Objections arising out* of the racing shall be dfcci led by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint. Tiieir decision upon all poiDts connected with the carryioig out of this Programme shall be final. All Entnes to be Sealed and addressed to the .Secretary, Talmerston North, Ent.ance Money enclosed with Name, Age at the ti<ne of Entry, feJigree, and m the case of Handicaps, Performances of the Borse, Name of the Ownei, and Colours of the Hider. Any JYcky riding except m the colours entered will brf fiae<i 3 soys. When two or more horses start (the properly of the same owner) a Distinguishing Colour must be worn. All persons intending to Withdraw horses, are required (o gite Notice to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of the Scales one half*hour before starsing. Any pt-rson neglecting or refusing to oooipiy with this iule shall pay a five of 5 a.. vs. to the Race Fund. Ail races to be run under the W.J.C. Rules. Letters bearing the Po&tuaark ot the date of entry, and Telegrams of the same oate, will be received.
