To-morrow's issue of the Standard Supplement will be specially interesting, and will be found full of readable selections. The prize tale, entitled " After Many Days," promises from the opeuing chapters to he one of thrilling interest. The acceptances for the Birthday meeting may be considered indicative of a good day's sport. We (Chronicle) understand that Mr Frank Evans, late of the Rutland Hotel, has taken a well known hostlery m Auckland, and is again m harness. Messrs Barry and McDonald, the prospectors who were taken by the Maoris at Tuhua, and sent to Auckland, arrived m Wanganui yesterday morning from New Plymouth.
