AFFAIRS IN SOUDAN.
LrNDON. May 14. It has transpired that m consequence of the threatened advance northwards of Osman Digna and the followers of El Mahdi, and with a view of allaying the consternation which has been thereby caused, the Egyptian Government recently decided to despatch a portion of the Egyptian forces now stationed at Assouan to Rady Haifa, an important military position at the second cataract on the Nile. The Imperial Government, however, vetoed the proposed despatch of troops.
