Wellington Produce Markets. Thursday Morning. Laery and Campbell report :— During the week the arrivals of produce have been rather heavy, and sales called to take place on the wharf have been responded to m a very lukewarm manner, and but little business done. A sale of pressed hay and oaten hay m sheaves however attracted a large company, and the bidding was brisk, the meadow hay realising L 3 5s to L 3 10s per ton, and the sheaves L 3 10s per ton. At these prices shippers will not, we expect, be tempted to try our market again, but believe, however, if buyers could depend on regular shipments, prices would much improve. There is no alteration to report m other produce, except perhaps that butter is a shade J lower and less asked for. At a sale of store sheep, of about 100 mixed ages and sex, realised 8s 6d each, the balance j of the shipment, consisting of about. 4oo merino sheep, also mixed ages and sex, ' brought only 4s each ; many of them "were old ew«s, and should never have been shipped, thus accounting for the low price.* The horse market is far from animated, but there are few buyers or sellers. On Saturday last a half -heavy, ■well-looking young hoise brought Ll9. Other sales are not worth noting.
