The following are the names of the Home team : — Grace, Greenfield, Shaw, Hide, Phillips, Shrewsbury, Barnes, 5 Barlow, Ulyett, Harrison, and McCroft. The attendance of spectators was large and the weather splen- J did. The visitors met with a good reception. The Home team went m first and were all ont for 86, the highest scoror being Shrewsbury lbw 39. The bowling of Giffen and Palmer was very effective. The former took 6 wickets for 50 runs, and the latter 4 for 30. The A us--tralians then commenced their second innings and at the conclusion of the day's play had lost 4 wickets tor a total of 172. The principal scorers were McDonnell, b 32; Bannerman, not out 71 ; Giffen, c 27 ; Blackham, not out 22.
