Items from Bulls.
[Correspondent Feilding Star.] I am sorry to say that Mrs T, Scott, of the Ferry, met with a very serious acciden on Saturday afternoon while returning from Bulls. From what I can hear, Mrs Scott was returning alone m her trap, which was loaded with chaff, and when about two miles from the Ferry the horse shied and somehow threw Mrs Scott out, when it is supposed the trap must have passed over her. One leg is broken above the knee and the spine is thought to be injured. She now lies m an unconscious state at Mr John Doughty's house. An old resident m this district states that he has never known such early and continuous hard frosts during a residence of nearly 40 years, and he wonders what the climate is coming to. A ve»y late wet spring, a short windy . summer, and hard frosts m April and May. What does it all mean ? I hear it is very probable that Mr Alfred Smith, the very popular manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Sandon, will succeed Mr Abraham here, who does not sever his connec-tion-with - that establishment till the first of July next. mAMMm
