Sir George Grey addressed a large meeting at Dunedin on Saturday night. He had an enthusiastic reception. His address was m the | main a repetition of his Christchnrch | address, and dealt with the necessity of educating " the working class to a sense of the disabilities under which they labor, and of putting on a land tax to cause the bursting up of large estates. He gave p Jist of the advantages secured by the Liberal party. They had secured the demolition of the barrier erected m the Legislative Council Hall, beyond which members of the HoHse of Representatives when l hey went to hear the Governor's speech had to stand, and had secured for the representatives of the people the right to sit m the presence of the Council. They had opened the profession of the law to any man who passed an examination m general knowledge. They had secured triennial Parliaments and had extended the franchise. There wass continued applause at the close of the address. Mr Thorne, president of the Trades and Labor Council, proposed a vote of thanks to Sir George, and also of confidence m him as a leader of the people. The motion was carried by acclamation.
