Land Swim.
[Hauraki Tribune J We are informed this week., that 40,000 acres m the Lakfe Taupo district have been sold to a syndicate m London by cable. W.e are not interested m the price j bat we are deeply interested m the fact itself. ts this another Whitaker and Kussell fraud .? We are told this Taupo country is under proclamation : that the government is negotiating for the purchase of the land, aud that there is a heavy penalty for all such transactions before the land is through ther Court. The land is nofc through the Court. Is' this another of tho infamies of John Bryco and the Con« tinuous G-overnraent ? Whether it be Whitaker and EusSell or Bryce the result is the same to tbe people. "We cannot purchase lands here' m the OhinemHri district without the perpetual interference of the Government and its officials,* and ruinous delay; but only give the Government a chance of a large absentee landlord, say the Duke of Manchester or some other Li!y of the Valley, and tho thing can be done at oncej!
