It is esUmaled^that m London alone there are thirty thousand ghosts ! For tiits blood-cui dliiig item of information we are indebled to a society that is ■preparing a Ghost Directory, giving the names, residence, business and general reputation of every ghost m the United Kingdom . By some means or other a peep, into the wonderful book, which, when published,' should prove of the greatest utility. He tells us that some of the compilers have done their work with great and painstaking care, and though they do not m every case guarantee the pedigree and performances of the ghost they have taken every means to verify them. Persons desiring^to make the acquaintance of a ghost will he able to do so, and what is more to the point, they will be able to select the particular class of ghost they desire. Taey will, for iusbauce, find such items as the following : — " Ghost of John Smith, such-and-such a street. Born 166 d ; murdered, 1720. Quiet and gentlemanly ghost ; walks m the twopair front bedroom, with a knife m his heart ; 01 again, " the violent ghost of Crazy Jane, No.—, street. Age unknown. Slirieky and chain-rattling; performs every night at one o'clock, but is rarely visible." It will be seen that there is a wide fie'd of usefulness for this book, which should sell more thousands than any other work of late years.
