Proposed by Or Macarthur, seconded by Cr Skerman and carried — That a slaughter license be granted to Messrs J. and D. Wilkie subject to the payment of the fee of £1. Resolved — That a slaughter license be gi anted to Mr W. Gilisou, to slaughter on section 234, Kiwitea. Proposed by Cr Douglas, seconded by Cr Sly and carried — That the application ol" A, Falloou for transfer of lease of Lower Gorge Feiry to Thos. Lowes be grunted on payment of £5 17s lOd, Messrs Haukius & Baker's Bill for •former alteration of lease and also all expenses of transfer. 'After a long discussion on the passing of Kavamighs voucher for work done m Fitzherbert, the following resolution was proposed by Cr Engels, seconded by Cr Walker and carried — That the voucher for No. 1 contract, Fitzherbert, l>e referred back to Mr Bray and the account paid and deposit refunded on Mr Bray's report to the Chairman. Proposed by Cr Engels, seconded by Cr Walker and negatived — That the agreement entered into between the Chairman and Fitzherbert Committee and Mr J. P. Armstrong to superintend the work to be earned out m the said ridings he terminated and that Mr Bray l>e requested to act as engineer for siiid ridings and report as speedily as possible upon the state of the various contracts m Fitzherbert ridings. There was a lengthy discussion on the manner m which Mr Armstrong , had left the works m Fitzherbert, Cr Engfcls, Walker and Sly taking part m the debate. Proposed by Cr Macarthur, seconded by Cr Linton and carried — That Mr Jeffreys be allowed to metal 15 chains m excess of his contract at the same rate per chain, no payment to bo made for such metalling until a giant under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act is received by the . local body having control of such road. Proposed by Cr Walker, seconded by Cr Skerman and carr cd — That the services of Mr P. Armstrong be accepted temporarily m place of Mr E. Armstrong during his absence Proposed by Cr Sly, seconded by Cr Skerman. and carried, That the engineer be requested to call for tenders for the I works to be done on Karere Road No. | 1. and Fitzherbert east under the Road J and Bridges Construction Act. A resolution was passed confirming the alteration of the advertisement calling for tenders for the making of Kai-ranga-Bunnythorpe Road. Proposed by Cr Sly, seconded by Cr Skerman, and carried — That Mr Goodbehere. be appointed Returning Officer ; for Kiwitea Riding for the Poll under the Roads and BridgesJConstruction Act for the Cheltenham Cross Road, and that his fee be one guiuea. Proposed by Cr Sly, seconded by Cr Linton, and carried— That a special rate of one sixth of a penny on the rateable value of sections as advertised m Karere fto. 1. Road be struck for the payment of one fbunh of £1820 7s lOd as provided by the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, 1882. The matter of Mr Linfcon's expenses came up again, but owing to a notice of motion being required to \ ass a resolution the affiair dropped. An application from lessee of Lower Gorge Ferry for a larger bill was discussed but did not come to anything. Some £1900 value of accounts were passed for payment. By Cr Skerman, seconded by Cr Sly, and carried, That Cr Walker be authorised to arrange with Cr Coombs as to the cutting of the neck of land causing the diviation of the Katarana creek through Messrs Engles and Coombe's property. • At a meeting of the committee of the Taonui and Fitzherbert ridings on April 7, the tenders of Las Larsen wat> accepted for about 40 chains of metalling on No. 1 contract, Sfconey Creek, at 33s 6d per chain and fiat of C.
