Accident near Foxton.

On Saturday night a young man while returning from Motua, near Foxton, met with a rather severe accident. He had ridden the same road in the morning, and when returning within a couple of hundred yards of the cemetery he was suddenly thrown from his horse without any apparent cause. This happened about 10 o'clock and the poor fellow lay there during the night, before getting any assistance. It was nearly 10 o'clock on the following (Sunday.) morning before he was found, Mr Baker, our new bailiff, being one of the first to come to his assistance. It was found on examination he had broken his thigh. The cause of the accident, it was discovered afterwards, was owing to a wire fence having been erected on the track he had taken in the morning and which he could not see it, being dusk, when returning.
