The Rangitikei Cricketers.

[Tuesday's Napier Telegraph.] Our Rangitikei visitors have been victorious on all our cricket fields, not one of the local clubs having been able to put forward a team ~tliat stood a chance agninst them. Commencing with the Hawke's Bay County Club the Raugitikeis gave their opponents a shameful beating, winning by 124 runs m one innings. The Napier Ciub was the next that fell before the conquerors, ■ beiug ableto put together H7,asjtgainsc| 171 . Then followed the defeat tit the' Rovers, our crack learn. The Rovers; made a score of 94 to the visitors 156. The last match m town wa* played yesterday, the Civil Service being beaten by 30 runs. Yesterday evening the Bangitikei men were entertained at a dinner at the Clarendon Hotel, at which 50 satdotvn, Captain VRus'sell, president of the Cricket Association, being m the chair. The table was elegantly laid, and the -wines and cookery reflected every credit on the host. After dinner speeches, toasts, and songs enlivened the gathering till 11.30 when ; the party broke up after a most pleasant evening. This moruiug the Rangitikeis left by the first train ior Hastings, where they play a reu'rn match with the County Club, and to-morrow our visitors return to their homes.
