.A. meeting of the ahnevston North School Committee whs held last evening. • . Pufsent — Messrs • Leary (Chairman), Stewart, Russell, Woodroofeand George. The minutes of last monthly and special meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence read and received. Telegram iVora Secretary of Road re Mv Stratchatn leaving was read, and it was explained by Mr Leary that as Mr Stratcliam was merely removing to another school the no ice was not strictly required.- It was staled that 179 children' had left the" school since last January. Re'Terace End School. The sale take? place to-morrow at the latter place. The Alexandra cavalry passed through Palmerston by the mid-day train to-day, en route for Wellington to be present at the Easter Encampment. We received a telegram last evening after we hud gone to press that the sailnip of the Tui had been postponed till Wednesday (to-morrow) at 8 p.m. At a meeting of the Palmerston Volun* teers held last night 25 men (rave m their "namea to attend the Easter Encampment at Welling»on. They leave here by Thursday morning's train. The train, 1 containing the Wanganui Volunteer contingent which arrived today consisted of 12 cattle vans , 4 horse boxes, 7\goods trucks, ">- passenger car* riages and. guard vaa-^26 m. all.
