AFFAIRS IN SOUDAN.
In the House of Commons to day the Marquis of Hartington in reply to the' questions stated that it is not the intention 1 of the Go"* eminent to send British troops to Berber or Khartoum, but if General Gordon proved to be in jeopardy the Government would order measures to I e taken for his assistance. The Minister added that in his latest dispatches, General Gordon announced that he adhered to his views in favour of evacuation of Soudan. ;
