VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
♦ •— At the usual volunter parade at Marton the other evening Captain Skcrman made enquiries as to how many of the men intended going to Wellington, and 41 out, of the muster of 55 signed their names. At the inspection of the "Wanganni Rifles held last evening m the Drill HaU there were about 40 m attendance. Captain Walt and Lieutenant Jones put the company through the ordinary marching- drill, ibe movements beiu;* neatly and promptly executed. At the close of the parade Vol. Turner was presented with the medal won m the four competitions lately held. A conversational discussion on the Encampment then took place, it was estimated that about fifty of the company would attend. ~ Wanganni Herald. ' Mr Jewell of ; Foxton Ims received word from the Caplain of the Alrx:uidra Cavalry,' to the effect that the troops will arrive by the 2 p.m. train on Tuesday next. After having lunch, the troopers will continue their journey to Wellington. The Wairoa Cavalry will pass through Foxton a few days later. B6th companies to the number of 50 men each will be present at the approaching Easter encampment at Wellington.
