The Canterbury Com Eschanga reports for the week ending Saturday, the 29th ult : — There has been no important change m the grain market during tbe paat week, local requirements being fairly supplied. Transactions are almost confined to purchases .for shipment. The firm tone held by^ buyers 'of wheat precludes the "pos'si", bility of any appreciable rise m the cereal,' while the continued low rates ruling i ■ the home maiket, together with the extra burden of the increased tariff show a '.e:y, gloomy prospect to the farmer; Quotations for the week : — ; , Wheat— Hunter's, 3s 4d ; pearl and Essex, 33 oJ ; Tuscan, 3s 6d, all f.o.b. Oats— Prime milling, 2s 9d ; short' bright feed, 2'h to 2a Id 3 inferior kinde, Is 81 to Is lOd f.0.b., with -a firm market for the better sorts. ■ . Barley — First claas malting, 4s ; second class, 3s 6d to 3s 9d Onristchurch. Grass Seed — Rye grass, farmers', parcels, 3s 3d to 3s 6d j machine dressed, 4s; cocksfoot, 3£d to 3|i f.o.b.
