Deporting French Convicts.
In the House of Lords to-day Earl Rdseberry made a speech m which he stated that the deporting of French convicts H-as causing unexampled excitement m the colonies, farl Granville, Foreign Secretary, concurred m Lord Roseberiy's statement, and announced that Lord Lyons, British Ambassador at Paris, had brought io the notice of the French Govrnment the feelling of the colonies and that he had been assured that the bulk of French convicts were now being sent to Chye^nes.South America, and only a selected fewi> to New Caledonia. . : ■
