i Invercargill, March 22. A young man named George; McCurdy, while shoeing a horse m A. Dunlop's blacksmith shop, was struck on- the; head -by the animal and his skull broken. The sufferer was picked up unconscious and removed »o the hospital, where' the doctor is now eu : gaged m removing pieces of bone from the wound. Tho patient is m a critical state. -.-■•.. : ; I^ater. The boy McCurdy, injured. >by a kiek ..of >a horse, h not expected to recover. He is suffering from com minutedfracfcvne of.-the /skull, .f.Trephiningwas found necessary, and ih& operation was -performed by the hospital.surgep.n, Mr Wardale, assisted by Dr Hanan. several pieces of bone were removed from the brain. The sufferer is unconscious, and his right side is paralysed.
