Hokitika, March, 11. : , "■ t At the': Supreme Court this morning,; John Doriaghue was indicted for.murder.' Before the prisoner pleaded, his counsel said the 'prisoner was insane. : Judge Wi ft iams ordered a jury to be empauelled to try the issue as to whether Donaghue was, sane or insane. Doctors Hector and . King .haying sworn that the prisoner was mad, the jury retired, and, after aii, interval, , asked for further evidence. The follow- 1 ing medical men then examined j prisoner as to his, sanity, and, reported thus:— t)rs tTivey and Ro^etti declared the prisoner to be, sane. Drs Morice and, Clarke said they iound no 'symptoms of insanity,, but they could not decide definitely m the .short lime allowed; them for examination^ The jury found the prisoner sane, and the 'trial commenced.
