CORRESPONDENCE.
AN INQUIRY. (to the editor ok thb standard.) Sib,— ln a stray copy of the Feildfar fwp*-of list week I read this ad-»e?tiSeWt:-To. Builders.-"Ten-ders wanted until the 14th day ot March, 1884, for the erection of a twostorey shop and dwelling m the Square, Palmeratan North. Plan and specification to be seen at E. Larcomb's office, Architect, Palmerston Forth." May I ask does Mr Larcombe think there are no carpenters idle m Palmerston, or that wages are so high that he must send out of the district to try and get jobs taken by outsiders.. How would belike it if the carpenters were to try and get another architect into the district r I think that there are none too many. joibs going just now m Palmeraton, but j that local mem might be given a chance. — lamj&cv „ . r Chips. [Mr Larcomb assures us that he had nothing Whatever to do with inserting the advertisement [in.the. Feildihg paper. He says the job is for; Mr Waldejjrave, who must have sent the advertisement himself.-r-ED. M. S.]
