<BT TELEGRAPH.) (UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Tina Day. At the meeting of the congregational union last night the Rev. T. Tonkinson ami Mi" J. Milve, were appointed Secretaries. The Treasurer prosented the balance sheet which was adopted. It was decided to hold the next annual at Auckland. Thefollowing officers were appointed : — Chairman, for 1885, Rev, W. H. West; Secretaries, Rev. Walker, and Mr Milve; Tteasurer, Mr Ooote. The election of the Committee is postponed until to-day. Tho Rev. Mr West introduced the matter of the Edncation Act, and the tecent assaults made upon it by the denominationaliHts. The motion gave rise to an animatod debate which was eventually adjourned until to-day. The union then adjourned till to-day when a deputation from the Presbyterian Assembly will wait upon them, .
