THE 'FRISCO MAIL.

[by telegraph.] • (united press association.) Wellington, Feb. 11. "With reference to the detention of the New Zealand letters at London are not specially addressed, the following cable has been received from the Agent-General : — "I have arranged that the decision of Mr Fawcett, the Postmaster-General, will not apply to New Zealand until you have fully considered the matter. The public are very angry at the detention. All letters for Australia were >ent on Friday by way of Brindisi, however, marked." ' (Chronicle) The public were greatly disappointed yesterday to .find that the only portion of the 'Fdsco mail brought down to Wanganui consisted of three bags of newspapers. Under these circumstances the I'ost Office was not kept openforthe customary extra hour, and we feel certaiu that the officials were just as much, disappointed as the public that there were no Home letters to deliver over the counter. It is to be : feared that the Wanganui letters are m the half of the mail w.hich did not arrive by the Zealandia, but was put on board a steamer which broke down between Liverpool and New York. We presume that our letters will come on by the next 'Frisco mail four weeks hence.
