A meeting of shareholders m the Steel and Iron Company was 'J. held last night to consider .the affairs ' r of the Company. The debt of the Company; was slated to be £1702, which amount was due to the Chair- ■■ man on accpnnt of his having taken j over the liability of the Company to the bank. Correspondence with the Premier was read, and ir is anticipated . f < that, the affaivu of the Company will be finally Mettled, by the shareholders authorising the acceptance of £3000 from the Government, and omitting the matter of penalties.
