THIS NEW ACT.

In sections 173 and 174 of the Bankruptcy Act, it is provided that every oscial assignee shall keep proper accounts of his repejpfa au;d payments and, of the payments and of t)je balance* belonging to each estate of which he is assignee, and shallverify them by statuttory declaration ; also, that these accounts shall be audited at least four times m each year, by an auditor ap* pointed by the Governor, such auditor being empowered to require the production of any books or accounts kepi by the Assignee, and to inspect them ; while any refusal or neglect on the pan t of the Assignee to produce such accounts or to furnish any information required by the auditor, or to give due facilities for inspection, is to be deemed

contempt of Court, and to be punished accordingly. His Excellency the Governor has appointed the Controller and Auditor-General of the colony to be the auditor of all accounts under the Bankruptcy Act.
