A PROTEST.
[to the editor of the standard:) Sir, — I can't see what call Mr Russell, J. P., has to sneer al working men, as perhaps is as pood or better nor him. He speaks as if us working men had no right being aliye or breathing the air with himself, He's ju -t like all the rest of the snobs ; he is Very civil till his turn is served, and then he has only a sneer. I mind the time when he wasn't so high and mighly m hisidea»,and J could tell him something" would make him sing small. It comes well from him to run down the rights of us to hold' an opinion of our own without . asking him. Some of us pays more rates than him, though we doesn't put on such side and have such airs. Who's he, I would like to know, that he wants to rule and order people, and try and got things all his way. He forgets what he come from, tmt I could tell him, right up from Inve'rcargill. — I am, &c. j Old Bricky.
