Fiirther Particulars. (by telkgraph.j (united prfss association.) i Auckland, January 30. At the fireai the Kaipara Hotel, m which Harris, the cook, and Mooney, the cook's mate, were burned to deatli, ' two children of the landlord hud a escape. They were rescued only by extraordinary exertions. John Harris was a single man well known m the timber trade. John Mooney ■was a stranger m the district, and is believed, to have been single. .'- ■' Later. An inquest was held on the bodies of John Harris, cook, and John Mooney, his assistant, who were burned at the fire at the Kaipara Hotel. The jury returned a verdict of " accidentally burned to 1 death. " The evidence showed that tho fire originated m their bedroom. . Harris had had some beer, but was said to be able to take care of himself. He is 1 said to have a considerable sum of money m the Bank. His real name is "Cboksley. He was formerly m the 40th Regiment, and also served m Major Roberta's division against Titokowaru on the West Coast. Mooney is said to have been generally half muddled, but to have been sober on the night of the fire.
