On the third resolution which committed the Conference to accept general principles of the proposed union, basis a loijig debate took place. The E^ev.J. Berry moved t an amendment that while union is desirable the proposal' fi>r present union is premature. Seventeen ministers and eleven laymen addressed the Conference. > Shortly (before uiid-v night. the question; was put and lost* r and there being no further amendments, the original motion was put and carried amid loud cheers by 38 to 9.p ■■.-■■ ; LaTEK. At the. Wesloyan Conference to-day the Church Commitleo ,was appointed to conduct detailed negotiations during the year with other Methodist Churches. The ConfdiWce also recomencled the Managing ..Conunittee of; the. N> Z. "tVesleyan to change the . name of the paper to the N. Z. Methodist, and to reserve space tor publication pi Methodist Ohurch news. It was resolved that the Secretary of Hie, Conference attend the succeeding Cbnfeience ex offico.
