Handicapper— Mr Joseph Chadwick, Jun. Timekoeper— Mr H. W. Haybittle. •The annual race meeting.which was postponed from yesterday, m consequence of the weather, was held to-day. The weaiihcr was finp, and the course, considering the lato rains, was not so • heavy as might have been expected. Theve was a considerable attendanco of residents and the outside public, though not nearly so large as had the events come off yesterday, which was a general holiday. On the whole, notwithstanding the unavoidable drawbacks, the- Club may be congratulated on the success which attended' the meeting. The. Palmerston Town Band was m attendance, and enlivened the proceedings with occasional music,' which assisted to make th^eu intervals l>etween the races less wearisome, and -in, -other respects enhanced the pleasure of those pie- ' sent. I should estimate the attendance at about one thousand. Many are' surprised at the course being m such excellent condition. The, weather as the afternoon advanced was simply delightful the sun 'shining out warmly, aiifl .the heat b'«ing tempered with a light, breqze; The racing generally is good, the totalizator, being fairly well patronized. It is being satisfactorily managed by Messrs Poole and Hill.; There' do : not seem to beany of those amusements with which the frequenters of race-course are familiar, "aH present goiug m for legitimate turf sport.
