OUR COLONIAL IMPORTS.
An interesting comparison of the imports to New Zealand from Great Britain during the years 1883 and 1882 is published by the Wellington Prices ' Current and Trade Eeview, which is "glad to observe that the shipments from Great Britain to New Zealand continue to be on a decidedly reduced scale as compared with those of laab year." For the period of 24 weeks ended 20tlu October-Jaat, ihe English exports to. New Zeajand were as follow :—Ofcago, £64»;600; Auckland, £426,800; Wellington^ £406,500 ; Canterbury, £290,200; total, £1,772,100; as against Otago, £795,400 ; Auckland, £530,000 ; Wellington, £488,700 ; Canterbury, £380,500 ; for the corresponding period of the previous year. The decrease for. the whole colony is calculated to be 19^ per cent. ; for Canterbury, 23| ; Auckland, 19| ; Otagbj, 18£; and Wellington, 16f per cent. ' j
