[to the editor of the standaro.] Sir,t~ls it correct that Mr Linton spoke as follows at the special meeting of the- Council, anent the Loan proposals :—" He could safely allege that if the last scheme; had fbeen carried, unless they had a very large influx of population, it would have beggared everyone."
