(Before R. Ward, Esq., R.M.) ; PERJURY. Geoi'ge Boyd v. Margaret Coleman. ! Mr Hawkins for plaintiff and Mr Jlankins for defendant. The accused was not m attendance. Mr Hankins said medical testimony would be produced showing that accused was confined to bed dangerously ill ; m fact at one iime- it was thought improbable she would recover. Dr Marriner was then examined and deposed to having had accused under medical treatment for dysentery. ; Mr Hawkins '-mentioned that a witness had beeu brought from Wellington, a further remand would cause much inconvenience and expense to his client. It was first proposed to remand the Case for eight day's, .but it was afterwards pointed out chat a remand could not be made ,when the accused was not \ present, and some discussion ensued us to the proper course to adopt under the circumstance. ; Mr Hawkins thought' it would be the best altei native to have the case neard at the house of accused. The R.M. could not see his way lo I fall m with this proposal, as following [ SjUch a course Would take up all day. j : Fiunally it was decided that a fresh summons be issued, the case to bo heard on the 7th of February. ASSAULT. ; A native named Wi Mahuri was charged with the above on the 7th inst., at the Oroua Bridge. Accused pleaded not guilty. i Mr Baker acted as interpreter. ; A quarrel had takeu place concernibg a horse, the outcome of which was the present charge. ' At the conclusion 6f the hearing defendant was bound over to ke6p" the peace for the space of three months, m onemirety of £o and liis 6wA recognizances of an equal amount.
