A HEAVY GALE.
To-day a very, fierce gale raped, blowing furiously, and raising immense dust storms, besides rendering out of doors exceedingly unpleasant indeed. In the Strait and near the Coast the terrific force of the wind mHst have been felt much more severely, and it will be seen that the steamer Tui fared badly on her passsage from "Wellington to Foxton, losing one of her masts and some of her bulwarks. The gale will do immense damage, it is feared, to the hay and grain crops, which will be sadly tossed about, and much of it so knocked down as to be rendered useless. There will be probably a heavy rainfall after the wind drops, which will do still further damage, so that the outlook for our farming friends is most unpromising. Such an inclement sea aon of storm and rain is, so far as we can learn, entirely without parallel m \he European history of the Colony.
