We understand that the adjourned meeting of the Palmerston Borough Council is to take place on Wednesday evening, at the Borough Chambers, at 7 o'clock. Eighty thousand children m the north of England form the ' Dickey Bird Society.' They are pledged to protect birda and to feed them m winter. At the monthly meeting of the Standing Committee of the Diocesan Sjnod, held on Thursday last at Wellington, it was resolved to allocate a stipend of £250 for Palmer.-ton North, provided that district raised the £200. We are sorry to hear that Mr Wool--cock, blacksmith, is still liiid up suffering from a fistula. Already two operations have been performed, but the patieut is stil! unable to perform his daily work, and may be so for some time to come. At the meeting of Mr W. H. Lash's creditors held to day, Mr J. A. Tompkios Was elected creditors' trutee. There will be no opposition to the debtor's discbarge, as he' has the sympathy of nearly al! his creditors. There are no less than six meetings of creditors, for 'next Friday at the Court House, viz., Walter Langley, 11; George Collia 11 30; H. J. Oavell, 12; Ellis James, 12.30 ; J. A. ueaton, 2 ; and Smith and Marsh 2.30. 1 •
