After the police took away deceased's clothes another witness, Annie Proven, stated that deceased had asked her to take charge of her little fish knife as lie might be taken up over the bat she said she would not. . A.neighbour named Anne Feidl gave evidejnee that the deceased -told her Pearce had stabbed her. Witness bathed and dressed- her wound, and! told Pearce he ought to g6f for a doc^ tor,, but he did not go. Witness asked Pearce about the «tabbing/ and he said they had a few words, and he done it \\ m"a passion. Witness went to the house because Pearce came and asked for assistanse. Another witness named: Sarah Bov'd, also a neighbour, gave evidence m cross-examination that after Mrs ; Pearce (the woman Hancock), died, there was some talk among the women about a knife. One said "If deceased has been stabbed, the knife ought to be done away with," and, Pearce taking something tronv the raantleniece and putting it m his pocket, said, 'TSan I put it m your house?' I said, *oh, you cannot put anything m my house.' " He then went away.
