FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' PICNICS.
[Chronicle.] Avrangetnents for the grand picnic at Matarawa to-morrow are all complete, ami should the weather be Sue (which really seems likely) there ought to be an immense gathering, and a most enjoyable day ? s amusement. The sports and the baby show together make up a programme worth going a good many miles to see. The various Friendly Societies will muster at the Wanganui Drill Hall at 9 o'clock to-morrow morning, and march m procession to the railway station. Trains lvave Wanganui for the scene of the picnic at 10 a.m., 10.40 a.m ,andl2noon,and the gigantic return trnin(itself one of the memorable sights of the year) willleave Ma tarawaats p.m. Tickets are now on sale, the price, includiug train fare and admission to the grounds, being 2s for adults and Is for children. Botn town bands will play on the ground, and every provision has been made for refreshments, games for the young and old, and' all the etceteras which go to make up the sum total of a blissful picnic. The committee have been most energetic m devising means, of enjoy- : mcnt for the vi»iiors.
