It is reported that the captiire of Soutay fortress by the French troops has been fully confirmed by despatches from the Tonquin garrison. The battle was fought with great determination for seven hours and with heavy loss. The fighting was prolonged until night, when the garrison e<*caped under cover of the darkness.
