A correspondent iff. the' Pall Mall. ■Budget gives his experience m the fol» lowing, works:— ' fioing into an office m CFleet^trfet, I, asked for. a foreign stamp. Twp young ladies behind th/a. counter werje ( converpin^ and though they, sato -aad heard nic, they "continued their talk unmoved. * And did he. kisc you, dearP' said one to the other, with as little concern forme as if I had been a parcel. It was not till she/ had got frbm her friend a reassuring answer, that one of thtin at length handed me my Queen's head. I. am a quiet man, on the wrong side of mi idle life, with a family at home ; and 1 admit that T walked; down. Fleet-street a aadd. r if not a wiser man."
