MRS PERKINS' FUNERAL.
The remains of~the late Airs E. ; W. Perkins were conveyed by train to-day to the family buvial ground at Foxton. The jforieral cortege left her late residence in' Broad-street a little before noon, and along the rooie of the mournfulprocession the places of business were ,pl6sed, and blinds drawn down, ; ; with Other emblems of sympathetic feeling with 1 the sad " incident. A good number of relatives, friends, and aeqtiainance followed the conveyance. On arrival at the railway station the coffin ■was transferred to the train, wlijqh shortly afterwards started. At Eoxton the gathering of residents of the district wouldnb' doubt be very numerous, as all the old friendi of the family would fee anxious to testify by their presence to tJhe'esieem m which all of its members are held, and to tender their' sincere sympathy to the relatives "under"' their sad bereavement. We Understand that His Lordship the Bishop was toe ndact the services at the grave." The. L whole community seem to feel acutely the gloom that the sorrowful occurrence has cause J. The wife and young mother sq soon cut oft', her Husband absent, '•and the other tuohrbiful 1 surroundings which will serve to ia melancholy remembrance the sat! circumstances for sotae considerable time to come, and from 1 the* minds of some will be ineffaceable. Had the weather been less inclement it is surmised the gathering iof toourners'and the general public to take part m the faheral procession at Palmerston would probably have 'been *v%ry much larger. • The' rain' fell' incessantly, and about the time when' the traiu started a very heavy shower set in7 ; adding, ttf'the gloomy and mournful character of thief occasion. We once more tender ovirrespeclful sympathy to ! those whose hearts are full of mourning for tfie departed loved one they will see no nVbre'ou earth* .. :
