THE DRUIDS.

A uieeting of persons desirous of brining a Druid's Lodge m Palmerston vas held at Walkley's Commercial ETotel last evening. W. R. K. Bishop, P.D.R., and Grand Lodge Deputy, was >resent, and explained the objects of he Society, and the manifold benefits •o be derived from starting such an m Htution here. Proposed by Mr Woods, seconded by Vl r 'Stratford, and carried — That the lecessary steps be taken to establish a Druids Lodge m Palmerston. A Working Committee was then tppointed consisting of Messrs Woods, fValklty, Bentley, Akers, Stratford, 3aubney, Grigg, and Lyhcn, to canrasu the town and district for intending nembew, and also to make arrangenents for a suitable room for meetings, md the appointment pro tern of a nedical officer. Mr Stratford proposed Mr Grigg as Jecr-etary pro tern, and Mr Woods 'as treasurer. Seconded by M r Daubney, nd carried, Mr Woods was appointed Chairman i Cum mitt ee. It was decided to open the Lodge as oon as possible, to enable Mr Bishop 0 officiate on bis return from Wan;anui. A vote of thnnks was accorded to Mr Jishop for his attendance, and the exilanation given by him of the duties nd benefits to be derived from joining lie order. The entrance fee for joining s charter members up to the age of 35 1 10s 6d, and the Society gives the ame benefits as the Oddfellows and tovegters.
