AN OFFICIOUS OFFICIAL.
— :oo: — ? [TO THE EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.] y Sir, — Is it right that an official drawing Government money, and earning his livelihood as a Government servant, should take a prominent part m getting settlers to leave, the countiy and mate them dissatisfied with their prospects. I think such conduct is exceedingly improper on his part. I do not know that the country would f«c:l the loss ol' this officious official to be irreparable; but I say he has no right, while a Government servaut, to str ye to i\lluio settlers from the place. I am glad to see this controversy on cae Puget Sound Trip. It is very, appropriate, and may be the means of preventing mauy being deceived. If the pij-zne mover of the intended exodus m this district earns his living more easily, im Puget Sound than he has managed to do m Palmeiston North, it certainly will be a Paradise (for loafers). — lam,&c, - • ■- Billy go Easy.
