The hall was crowded to overflowing, and the audienct testified to the musical talent exhibited by its' " most orderly conduct, and by hearty :and' eeniiine applause. The first part Consisted; entirely of sa"red pieces. The concert opened with an overture, "Gloria," (Mozart's 12th Mass), by the orchestr a , - which was r .capitally rendered. >The nextt,wo pieces "Kyrie," and " Grloria m Excelsis," were well sjijig/by the chdr- A tenor solo> w there is a Green Hill," by Mr Healy, was w.ell received, and highly applauded. He was^ followed by the choir^ who I sang subcessively " Credo,?' *and I " et Benedictus," with good i eflfect,'the voices blending Karinoniously. The first part concluded with a solo by Miss-Ooakley, " Agnus Dei," (Mozart's Ist Mass) . This young lady poss -sses •a sweet' and clear contralto voice', and at the conclusion of the piece was rpwa'rdedyby a burst of applause. The "second part set' down on the programme consisted of secular music and a recitation.. The. orchestra opened by an overture, "The Brightest ; StairsV* aiid under ;he able leadership of Mr Harbotfe, was excellently given. Mr E. E. Gilbert-followed with " My Beautif »1 Girl of Kildare." At the conclusion :he was Vociferously applauded and deservedly encored, and m response to the call "sang with equal effect and musical taste 2 The Land tb,at gave me birth." Miss Bellve, of Eeilding, -whose name was .n_xfe_on. the programme, chose the well-known song of "Eobin Adair/Vfor which her melodious voice was well adapted. Her rich tones captivated the audience, and hardly had j the last note fallen from her lip's when 1 there were loud demands for an encpre. On her re-appearance she gave with the same force pf dxpression-and feeling, « In fc Gloaming." A duetj "1 he Star and the Flower," by Mrs Cprdoza and Miss Coakley, was well received ; as was also piano and cornet selections from Gounod's { Mirella," by Messrs Seaton and Smith. ' Mrs Cordoza's rendering of *' I'm Alone "''drew forth a rapturous encpre. Mr Stj?atford followed with a humorous, recitation ent tied ''Phadrig Crohoore," It was well deiivereti,and evoked a great : of merriment, A song, " Alice, "Where Art Thou," by Mr Forster ; a merry duet, "A.8.C.," by Mrs Turner and Mr Neill ; and " The Nonsense Song," which was ; exceedingly . fuimy and mirth-provoking, by Mr Eeading, concluded the programme. Prior to the singing of the National Anthem, and the dispersion of the audience, the Eev. Father Carew came forward, and, m a few well r cbosen and eloquent sentences, thanked the chojrs and jhoge who had assisted Jn getting ijp the flausipal treat ? and at thp same time assisting tjie bHilding fupd pf tne Pbprph.
