Messrs Barber will, at their own cogt oon tione and pomplele the erection of a new slaughter .house at NgahauraDga, and will remove there, from its present position m Willis-street, thejwhole of their ; meat preaerving machinery and plant!* - ■.:' It is intended to take power m the Memorandum of Association to enter upon the business of freezing meat for, export, or to amalgamate with any other Company, or to purchase 'any business established for that ■ : purpose, and to manufacture artificial manures or other predicts which may be.con. aidered legitimate adjuncts to the business : but for, the present, at least, it is deemed prudent to rest satisfied with the known profits of the businesses as the} sfcaijd, without embarking m more speculative ventures, and it is evident that the combination of the two establishments under one management must result m increased profits and largely diminished expenses. The combined businesses show a net profit ef over 15 per dent; and it is confidently expected that when conducted under one head,' this may be considerably exceeded. The success which has attended the Gear r : . Meat Company since: its establishment as a public Company, showe conclusively that auch businesses are more systematically and advantageously, worked and extended m this way than by private enterprise ; and it is for this reason that Messrs Barber, and Woods, Crosbie and Company are willing to sell their lespective business to a Company while still retaining a very 1 large' interest • themselve '.and they have agreed to place • their services »i the disposal of the Company for-such time as the Directors may require, ■ and,npt to engage m any businesses m competition with this Company. I, The resources of the Wellington district, m the way tff sheep and cattle, are 10 large and increasing, and the:, demand; for preserved meats m England and elsewhere so much m excess of the supply, that a business of this kind is capable of almost infinite extension, and presents to capitalists toe opportunity of a safe and profitable investment, whilst to stockowriers it\aff ords the, means of securing a fair value for their produce, , ; . . . The Provisional Directors have given their . careful consideration to the Proposed Company, and Jiave \Kdd f submitted ' ta them by their own valuator ■the. detailed valwjiions/qf. the various properties to be taken over. They *eel they'can with confidence recommend this undertaking to tfie Public as one which is entered upon on a fair basis, and, which promises to yield a Jiandsome return on the capital invested, as well as by the extension of the business adding to the ; material prosperity of the City ' and the stockowners \ oj the surrounding districts.^ ,
