Poisoned with Whiskey
A late telegram from Sydney gives particulars of an enquiry held by Mr T. Pinhey, J.P., at the Prince AlfredHospital on Tuesday morning, concerningthe. death of a boy named Earnest ? ln °fe? ho from alcoholic poisoning; William Sinclair, grocer, residing at Derbyshire Koad,, Leichardt, deposed that deceased was his son 5* years, and was m good health up to Saturday, when he appeared tJ be sickening from measles; on Sunday 'morning wittfegg^heaja footSteprfcr a room next toithe ichUdi-en's room, and on going' in raw the deceased sitting on thefltfor, with his togad'benirforward ; witness's wife followed him >ihtb f the room,* and deceased said- ".Oh.m&mAa, | don't cry; I took 'some .water with it;" he then almost immediately became unconscious; on looking- rou&d ? witness found that a. bottle which "on the 1 * previous night had jxmtained about half-a-pint of iwhiskey had been emptied, -JS.6 was removed to the Jiospitai, J Diic^ t^ied the same night, .Mr Pinhey found that death resulted by. and through the deceased having sWUp^ed^^^uan^ty of , spirituous liquor, ,tp witj which had been incautiously left within ; his reach.
