Manawatu Standard (PUBLISHED DAILY.) Suivant la verite. WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 26, 1883. The DAIRY FACTORY.
We are sorry to learn that the canvass for shares m the proposed Manawatu Butter, Cheese, and Bacon Factory has not been attended with success. In some cases the canvassers did not Becure a single application. This result, besides being very disappointing, is noc creditable to the .town, and district. We fancy tbe canvassing must have lacked some essential element of success — system, energy, enthusiasm, or persistency. We do not^ nor will riot believe that our settlors would be so blind to their own interests as to discountenance a project so full of promise as. the proposed , Dairy Factory- Let them reflect for a moment on the benefits and advantages certain to accrue, and' ( they will be only too glad to lend the project every assistance m their j,ower. We trust the canvass will be still more earnestly prosecu'edj and we feel confident the results will yet be satisfactory. Our settlers do not ■ack discrimination, nor are they illiberal, cr deficient m progressiveness.
